The historical of cricket matches played between India and Pakistan in world cup series, India kept on its dominance over Pakistan in all previous matches. As the cricket is game of uncertainty, this time, players from India and Pakistan gear up for splendid performance, and it will be hasty to predict which side will win the match. Both teams are full of energy and enthusiasms. They are looking forward to have a fierce clash at Mohali cricket ground.

Pakistan players, on the other hand didn’t stand on the occasion in the whole tournament with its batting lineup. However, the strong bowling orders will pose grave concern for Indian players. Pakistan will put pressure on Indian batsmen with players like Wahab Riaz, S Ajmal, Umar Gul, Abdul Razzaq and Mohammad Hafeez. Shahid Afridi, the awesome and awful figure of Pakistan’s team will probably turn the table as the hulky man is one of the leading wicket takers in the tournament.

As was mentioned earlier, the Pakistan bowlers are the ones India has to watch out for. The danger man is Afridi. Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Dhoni, Raina, Yuvraj – a formidable batting line up has to stand up to Afridi's deadly leg spin. Afridi is the highest wicket taker of the World Cup, with 21 in his kitty. Not far behind is Umar Gul with 14 wickets at 4th spot. His wily pace can trick even the most seasoned batsman to put a foot wrong. Then there are the two off-spinners, Ajmal and Hafeez. Both of them have time and again shown uncanny variations in their bowling patterns. Ajmal is especially miserly in conceding runs, which will be a huge asset if India bats first. On the batting front, Pakistan may not seem as strong as the Indian side. They have not shown the same consistency as their bowlers. Yet, you simply cannot underestimate them. Kamran Akmal, Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq have been known to bail out the team in crucial games. Then there are the youngsters like Hafeez and Umar Akmal, not to mention Afridi and Razzaq who can put a good score on the board in the slog overs.

As for India, the men in blue will need to give much more than what they have so far, playing well above all their games up to now. They need to show as much gumption as they did against the Aussies to be able to face the guile of the Pakistani bowlers. They need to be level-headed and calm, not giving in to pressure while fielding or batting and using the support of the home crowd at Mohali to their advantage. Perhaps Munaf should be replaced by the experienced Nehra, to create a good pace attack to curb the openers. Ashwin is an automatic choice, having proven his wicket-taking skills against Australia. With Harbhajan and Zaheer very much in the team, India can definitely fancy its chances of keeping the runs in abeyance.

New Zealand vs South Africa will meet at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in Bangladesh in the third quarter final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Both South Africa and New Zealand had never reached the final of the Cricket World Cup so far. However, Kiwis have played five times in the semi-finals.

Before the commencement of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, New Zealand was performing poorly. They have lost against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India in the sub-continent in the last eight months. However, Kiwis started their Cricket World Cup campaign with a grand style.

Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel will return to the side after being rested against Bangladesh with Lonwabo Tsotsobe and Wayne Parnell to miss out.

South Africa need to shake their ‘chokers’ tag and a fine display against the dangerous Kiwis will give them confidence.

The Proteas only lost to England in the group stage. They have strong batting and bowling units and will hope they both put in strong performances.

The Kiwis had mixed forturnes in Group A, thumping Kenya, Zimbabwe and Pakistan but losing to Australia and Sri Lanka.

The bowling will depend on the fitness of Vettori and Mills, while their big hitting artillery of Oram, Styris and Franklin will pose a threat.

The second quarter final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, defending champion Australia will take on host India at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad on Thursday, March 24.

Both countries had met in a Cricket World Cup encounter last time in the final of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, played in Johannesburg on March 23, 2003, where Australia defeated India by 125 runs. Meanwhile, in the warm-up match prior to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, India defeated Australia by 38 runs.

On Indian soil both team have met 44 times and the record is again in favour of the Australians by 23-17 (NR- 4).

In World Cup matches, Australia have beaten India in seven of the nine encounters.

At the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, the two world champs played each other almost 25 years back. At this venue India has featured in 13 occasions and won five matches, while one game was cancelled.

On the way to the quarter finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, India beat Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and West Indies by 87 runs, five wickets each and 80 runs respectively, whereas lost to South Africa by three wickets. However, one match against England ended in a tie.

Australian batsmen Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Michael Clarke, and Michael Hussey are in prime form. However, captain Ricky Ponting has not played any remarkable innings in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Their fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee and Shaun Tait can create some problems for Indian batsmen.

The second quarter final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 between India and Australia will start from 2:30 PM IST. Star Sports and Star Cricket will telecast this match live.

India look very good on paper but have a plethora of problems… their bowling has not been clicking (Yuvraj is picking wickets), batting has been collapsing in the last 3-4 games and the fielding has only just been ok… Sachin has scored two tons but India could win neither of those games!! India has a lot to do and think before the big match and hopefully Dhoni will be proactive come Thursday! Zaheer and Harbhajan will be the main men for India in the bowling department and will have to shoulder the bulk responsibility.

Australia on the other hand has lost their first world cup game in years and will be keen to bounce back. They will never go down without a fight and will present India with one of their toughest challenges. Watson and Clarke have been in great form though Hussey and big-match-player Ponting cannot be overlooked. The pace trio of Lee, Tait and Johnson will be looking to intimidate the Indian batsmen but can go for plenty of runs if they stray form the lines and lengths
